The Role

Can you create clear, simple messages that anyone can understand? Do you like to solve problems for your customers? Is your first question always “what’s best for the user?”
We’re looking for a digital writer who can translate technical insurance information into simple, user-friendly language that helps people find the right cover for them.
You’ll work on a variety of content from product information, offers and application forms to microcopy, notifications and help text. Your work will show up across apps, websites, SMSs, emails and chat bots.
You’ll join a team of talented content writers that you can collaborate with, lean on for help, and share your knowledge with.
You’ll partner closely with UX specialists, visual designers, product owners and business experts who can help make sure our messages are clear and accurate.
This might not be for you if you specialise in ad copy, or if you want to focus on marketing content like blogs and social media posts. This job focuses on product content (with doses of UX writing and microcopy).
It’s a six-month opportunity to start with, based in our new Sydney CBD offices (right next to Darling Harbour).

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the voice of the customer and write concise, plain English copy to help meet user needs and achieve business goals
  • Create new content and edit existing content, then take it through the approval process to ensure it’s correct, compliant and ready to be published
  • Continually monitor and evaluate content’s effectiveness, and use analytics and testing as a bedrock to improve it
  • Manage stakeholder feedback and requests while maintaining user-friendly copy that meets style and accessibility guidelines
  • Maintain and apply style guides for a range of brands and channels
  • Work with stakeholders (like UX, Product and Legal) to identify opportunities to improve content and user experience
  • Be an advocate throughout the company for clear, readable and friendly content that speaks to users from all walks of life.

Skills & Experience

  • Superior ability to write and edit clear, succinct, accessible content
  • Previous experience as a UX writer or digital copywriter working on forms, application questions, microcopy, help text, error messages and validations
  • Understanding of digital user experience and accessibility
  • 1-3 years’ experience writing and planning digital content (mainly web and apps)
  • Strong data focus and experience with data-driven decision making.
