nbn is responsible for the country’s communication backbone built upon all the major communication transport technologies of today.  Committed to providing world class leading security, nbn is seeking cybersecurity professionals to research and monitor emerging and current cyber threats, and participate in the development of mitigating strategies, architectures and tactics.


A bit about your role

Reporting to the Manager Security Architecture, the role of the Enterprise Security Architect is to operate as a key member of the security strategy and architecture team, delivering on outcomes that support the security strategy.


Engaging with stakeholders to ensure an integrated security architecture is developed across network domains aligned with security architecture and security requirements are implemented. 


Defining security strategies and roadmaps that consider the future requirements of System Engineering and Operations and ensure awareness of security requirements.


The team will lead the design and build of security processes and technology controls through a flexible and robust security architecture that promotes a security culture where controls are consistently designed and delivered by solutions. 

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • The development and maintenance of nbn’s Enterprise Security Architecture, policies, standards, patterns and technology roadmap.
  • Communicating security requirements (security enterprise and domain architectures, patterns and technical standards).
  • Defining control testing criteria, based on the agreed solution / controls before introduction into nbn’s IT and network operating environment.
  • Utilising nbn’s risk assessment processes to define technology security risks in consultation with business stakeholders / project staff and security risk and assurance function.
  • Working with peers and architects to document and maintain, the baseline security controls across all environments.
  • Collaborating and communicating across the security teams to align practices, techniques and methods.
  • Providing reporting and documentation to support the Security Group reporting requirements.


A bit about you

To be successful in this role, the Enterprise Security Architect will have a broad range of experience across all areas of security and multiple industries.  This will include strong business engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and navigate nbn’s operating model to achieve a security compliant operating environment that protects nbn’s people, information, infrastructure and network assets.  Along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to negotiate and agree controls to an acceptable level of business tolerance.

In addition to these skills, the Enterprise Security Architect will also have experience in:

  • The security industry with experience in enterprise security architecture.
  • Architecture standards such as SABSA, TOGAF, eTOM etc.
  • Fully acquainted with ISO27k security standards.
  • The ability to work with ambiguity, present outcomes and aspects of security architecture to target audiences with differing levels of technical capability, from highly technical to nbn business stakeholders with little security knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience working across a broad range of technologies including applications, infrastructure, networking systems and cloud services.
