Role overview

The People & Culture Manager provides a full range of services to the Company including partnering with all departments to provide advice and consultancy on employee relations, recruitment, reward and recognition, learning and development, workforce planning and WHS. 

The role provides strategic, high level advice through identifying key people opportunities and challenges and influences leaders on the need to implement HR policies and processes in line with the Company goals and values.  

The role is part time (can be performed 3 or 4 days per week) and is a maternity cover (9-12 months). 

Key outcomes 

Business and Strategic Planning 

  • Actively participate in and understand the business and strategic planning principles  
  • Drive the People and Culture strategy and make recommendations around organisational design, people, systems and processes to help the business achieve its business goals 
  • Review activities in light of changing factors to ensure attainment of strategic goals 
  • Link business strategy to individual Top 5 KPIs and lead the roll out and measurement of these  

Policies and Procedures 

  • Implement procedures and new initiatives, and make recommendations for change to enhance the effective and efficient management of People & Culture and provide support and advice on related projects 

HR Business Partnering 

  • Build trusted relationships 
  • Support and develop leaders 
  • Risk management of key people 
  • Provide key input into the ER strategy for managers to assist the Company in meeting its strategic goals 
  • Manage work outputs and performance expectations  

Technical Expertise and Advice 

  • Interpret Award and employment conditions to provide high level advice to management 
  • Manage the disciplinary and grievance procedure to ensure that employee issues are resolved in a proactive manner in accordance with our values and goals 
  • Manage workplace investigations 
  • Assist with coordination of complex HR projects with executive team 
  • Maintain a current knowledge of relevant HR legislation and practice  
  • Leadership and management of ER issues  
  • Provide support, assistance and advice to the CCO and CEO on all aspects of People operation  
  • Document and communicate WHS issues to the CCO and CEO 
  • Monthly People & Culture Board reports 

People Leadership and Culture Development 

  • Role model the values and behaviours of the Company 
  • Manage Recruitment and onboarding ensuring a positive candidate experience 
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with all staff 
  • Be aware of the wellbeing of staff and communicate feedback regularly to the executive team  
  • Manage KPIs and performance measurement system to ensure staff achieve their personal and business goals  
  • Actively work with key cultural leaders across the organisation to build the Swift culture in line with the values 

Qualifications and experience

Essential criteria: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR or related field  
  • 5 years plus experience in a HR business partnering or generalist position in a diverse organisation 
  • Personable style which reflects and models the values of the Company 
  • Ability to manage and work in a multi-disciplinary/cross functional team with a passion for improvement 
  • Extensive experience of employee relations and people and culture issues affecting a diverse organisation 
  • Experience providing high level employee relations advice to mitigate organisational risk 
  • Excellent communication skills  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects with competing deadlines  
  • Business partnering skills and the ability to formulate effective solutions to meet business requirements  
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service, continuous learning, WHS and ethical principles  
  • Proven ability to build strong trusting relationships  

Desirable:

  • Experience in building positive organisational workplace culture
