We are pleased to be supporting West Island Digital in finding a web dev / tech support specialist on part-time / contract, ANY location, remote fine !

A bit more about the opportunity:

West Island Digital  helps people build, grow and scale their online businesses. 

We have strong expertise in working with carers and people over 50, as well as others who don’t see themselves fitting into the traditional 9-5 job mold and want an alternative.

Our Online Business Liftoff (OBL) program teaches participants how to build their own online business and supports them with intensive coaching during the first three months of setting up their business. 

 

We have a membership community where people can do the OBL program self-paced.  We also provide our community members with great support, advice, guidance and help with tech support.

We also develop other online business programs and products that help people and businesses add value to what they do.

The Role

West Island Digital is looking for someone who can:

  1.  Develop websites and landing pages from a design brief, using WordPress and Divi
  2. Help with the automation set up and testing of lead gen and sales funnels
  3. Learn to create decision trees using the LeadsHook tool (we will provide training) and build visually attractive results pages
  4. Provide back up to our tech support person who is responsible for helping our OBL participants with their website and tech issues

●      Start Date:  As soon as possible

●      Finish Date:  30 June 2021 (with the potential to be extended)

●      Appointment type – Contractor, Part-time.  The applicant requires a current ABN and public liability insurance so they can be contracted into the position.

●      Hours – Around 20 - 30 hours per week initially, with later hours dependent on the number of projects on the go.   Actual days/hours worked can be flexible. 

●      Salary – Between $30 and $35 per hour depending on level of experience and expertise. 

●      Location – Remote.   Must be willing and able to work from home or other suitable location. 

Responsibilities:

●      Using existing tools (WordPress, Divi, various WordPress plugins and other software) create, test and maintain web pages, websites and related funnels

●      Optimise page load speed for the above

●      Ensure websites are set up to maximise security

●      Work with our tech support team member to ensure websites are regularly backed up and the backups tested

●      Work with the team to ensure that the tech sections for the business continuity and disaster recovery plans are created and regularly updated

●      Problem solve in conjunction with the rest of the team when funnel and related website issues arise

●      Provide technical support to the team

●      Be part of a roster to provide regularly scheduled tech support office hours for Online Business Lift-Off participants

●      Create tech video training modules where appropriate

Selection Criteria

Essential:

●      Experience with developing and maintaining websites and web pages from a design brief, using WordPress and various plugins such as MemberPress and Woo Commerce

●      Experience in using the relevant coding languages, e.g. HTML/CSS, Javascript, etc

●      Experience with setting up and testing APIs

●      Experience in optimising page load speed

●      Experience in managing site security and backups using tools such as Cloudflare

●      Excellent problem solving skills

●      Able to attend weekly team meetings and fortnightly IT meetings during business hours

●      Able to prioritise and meet deadlines

●      Consistently documents technical knowledge and work instructions

●      Great team player

●      Good communication skills … able to talk to techies and non-techies equally effectively

●      Able to explain complicated concepts very simply and provide feedback without making the other person feel stupid or uncomfortable

●      Able to work effectively with people aged 40+

Desirable:

●      Have a good eye for making making web pages aesthetically appealing if a design brief is not available to work from

●      Proven experience in supporting people who are not confident with tech

●      Experience in creating short training videos

●      Knowledge of or experience with using LeadsHook

●      Love setting up, testing and optimising online funnels
