Senior Account Manager ( FT Flex or Job Share)

Job Description

Role Overview

The Senior Account Manager works closely with Account Directors/Practice Heads, the Client Services Director and Principal to deliver the best quality work across client program development, implementation and reporting, meeting and exceeding campaign KPIs, and makes a positive contribution to identifying and securing new business for the agency. The Senior Account Manager applies knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility to manage client activities and the junior team that implements them. This is a key managerial role and requires a degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism (or similar), strong computer skills especially in Microsoft Office, six years’ full-time agency experience and proven proficiency to perform tasks required to a high standard.

The position reports to a Practice Head, the Client Services Director or Principal with whom the person works on a daily basis, and requires accountability for personal and team outputs and outcomes. The Senior Account Manager oversees several client programs and projects with responsibility for revenues of $50K+ per month and line manages Account Executives and Senior Account Executives as required.

Areas of Responsibility

Tasks include:

Client Management

• Research and monitor clients’ business and industries to stay up to date on trends, developments and breaking issues, and, in concert with senior account lead, counsel client accordingly

• Develop and cultivate positive relationships with allocated clients as their main day-to-day contact, and their stakeholders/influencers such as media, third party constituencies, and current and prospective customers to convey key messages

• Lead discussions with clients to understand PR, social and experiential briefs, as well as broader briefs that could involve other members of the Havas Village, assisting the client to develop these when required

• Prepare background materials and research for client brainstorms • Lead and positively contribute to brainstorms • Develop communications strategies and programs for clients • Effectively present strategies and programs to clients and gain their buy-in

• Prepare and regularly review and update detailed project/program plans including working timetables of activity to ensure successful implementation and achievement of KPIs

• Continually review programs to ensure all deliverables are met and recommend new initiatives to reach goals as required

• Ensure timely, accurate and insightful reporting to and correspondence with clients including professionally written agendas, meeting reports, weekly updates and monthly activity reports

• Autonomously manage medium- to large-sized accounts in consultation with senior account leads Media and Influencer Relations

• Have a strong knowledge of Australian news media and social influencers

• Develop and cultivate a wide range of relationships across mainstream and specialist media relevant to client base, creating opportunities to expand contacts wherever possible • Cultivate strong relationships with social influencers relevant to client base, continually expanding depth and breadth of contacts

• Oversee maintenance, accuracy and comprehensiveness of media lists for clients

• Develop media strategies and news angles including content requirements

• Lead and participate in brainstorms to generate media strategy and story ideas

• Oversee the researching and drafting of media releases, fact sheets, bios, pitches and other materials

• Assist junior staff to develop their writing and proof-reading skills

• Develop complex written materials

• Ensure high standards of writing, grammar, punctuation, fact-checking and presentation across client accounts under management

• Ensure pitching is timely, targeted and proactively followed up to achieve agreed KPIs, cultivating a positive client presence

• Work with targeted senior media and high-end influencers on story/content development

• Respond to and follow up media enquiries in a timely, efficient and professional manner

• Plan and supervise the organisation of media and influencer events including conferences, briefings, tours and activations Digital/Social • Have a sound understanding of current digital channels and social media as marketing tools

• Work with #RedSocial to develop best-in-class social and digital strategies and act as client pivot point for approval and implementation • Assist team to develop high quality content calendars and ensure content and posts are timely, targeted, accurate and in keeping with the strategy

• Work with #RedSocial to develop and manage paid campaigns to boost posts and build communities

• Ensure comments are responded to appropriately and in line with #RedSocial guidelines and standards

• Ensure client, industry and competitor social media activity is monitored and reported on in a timely and accurate way

Event Managemen

t • Plan and oversee the implementation of events including research, venue, catering, talent selection and management, theming and decoration, speaker briefs and speech-writing, working with Havas Blvd as required

• Ensure guest lists, invitations and RSVPs and effectively managed

• Provide quality control, issues management and hands on support at the event, and professionally interact with clients, stakeholders and guests

Issues and Crisis Management

• Proactively troubleshoot client and implementation issues that may arise, alert senior team members and propose solutions/actions

• Working with senior managers, develop materials on more complex issues Budgeting and Financial Management

• Manage and coordinate assigned junior account teams ensuring effective and efficient deployment of resources, and high quality work that meets clients’ objectives in a manner that provides value for money and account profitability

• Work with junior team to effectively forecast and monitor monthly and weekly resource requirements as part of Red Havas’ capacity management program

• Ensure timesheets are completed accurately and in detail each day by self and team

• Develop and present budgets to clients and internal team, following sign off by senior account lead

• Manage allocated budgets with no over-runs without prior client approval, including following all Red Havas and client financial processes including raising and processing purchase orders

• Ensure assigned teams follow finance guidelines at all times, including accuracy in supplier purchasing and timely dispatch of invoices

People Management

• Ensure agency client team members understand their role and responsibilities in delivering programs and projects

• Develop direct reports through on-the-job mentoring and effective implementation of Red Havas’ performance review program and ensure they meet their KPIs

• Work with Line Manager to set appropriate KPIs for direct reports and to assess their progress at each formal performance review

• Twice annually conduct an internal training session

• Provide senior managers with professional feedback on team members you work with as part of their 360 degree performance reviews

• Develop mentees through coaching and advice helping them reach their KPIs and career goals

New Business

• Assist Senior Management Team with research and strategic/creative approaches to generate desired new business opportunities

• Assist with drafting and project management of new business proposals

• Present confidently at pitch meetings and tissue sessions as required

• Proactively recommend additional projects to existing clients

• Maintain and grow an extensive network on LinkedIn and post regularly to increase profile

• Attend industry and relevant client events

• Use networks and networking opportunities to uncover new business opportunities and bring them to the Senior Management Team Requirements For The Next Level Has demonstrated consistent and sustained achievement of the above criteria.

Knowledge

Advanced and integrated knowledge of the agency, communications industry, communication theories and practices, Australian landscape including politics, society, news media, influencers and social media, clients and customers, industries/sectors, ethical practice and social responsibility.
